KEMP WINS IT FOR BANDITS

BERWICK edged out Edinburgh 47-43 with Drew Kemp the hero in a last-heat decider at Shielfield Park.

Kemp, who top scored for the Bandits with 13 points, won the crucial Heat 15 against Monarchs duo Josh Pickering and guest Leon Flint, who required a 5-1 to take the meeting to a Super Heat.

As it was, the visitors had to be content with the aggregate point after their 51-39 win in the reverse fixture 24 hours earlier.

Kemp’s excellent display was supplemented by guest Ben Barker and Danyon Hume scoring 9+1 and nine respectively, whilst Pickering (13+1) and Flint (11+2) scored double figures for the Monarchs.

Edinburgh boss Alex Harkess said: “I am disappointed, we knew coming down here it doesn’t change, and we didn’t put ourselves in the major scoring positions enough.

“The reserves, when they did get into scoring positions, they then let it slip unfortunately.

“Even in Heat 15 I was confident we might get a 5-1 but it just takes someone to make a gate and that’s that, it’s very disappointing.”
