LEARNING CURVE FOR YOUNGSTERS

BRITISH 125cc riders Oliver Bovingdon and Charlie Luckman endured a tough day in the European 125cc Track Racing Final at the vast 400-metre track of Zarnovica in Slovakia on Saturday.

Bovingdon managed four third places in races which consisted of five riders in a heat, for a score of nine points to end up in 15th position.

Meanwhile Luckman secured three fourth place finishes and ended up in 23rd with a score of three points.

The new European Champion is Franciszek Szczyrba from Poland, who won the title with a 20-point maximum. Andzejs Smuckevics from Latvia claimed the runners-up spot and Germany’s Levi Bohme took bronze.

Both Bovingdon and Luckman compete again at the same venue on Sunday afternoon in the FIM 125cc Gold Trophy.
