PREVIEW: REDCAR v POOLE (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)
REDCAR face another stern test in their Cab Direct Championship play-off challenge with leaders Poole visiting the ECCO Arena tonight (Friday).
The Bears have bounced back from a tough start to the season and a dramatic away win at Edinburgh a fortnight ago boosted their hopes of gatecrashing the top four.
The home side bring in Jordan Jenkins to guest for Connor Bailey, who announced earlier in the week he is standing down for the remainder of the season, and they face a narrow four-point deficit for the aggregate point.
Redcar boss Gavin Parr said: “The boys just have to keep rising to the challenge and the next test we have is Poole.
“Each battling performance breeds more and more confidence which can only be a good thing as the business end of the season approaches.
“At the moment, we are just taking things one meeting at a time. We know how well Poole ride the ECCO Arena, especially the Cook brothers; however, we are on a bit of a roll at the moment so we are hoping to keep that good run going.”
Poole promoter Dan Ford said: “If we are to win the aggregate then it means pushing them all the way, with only a four-point cushion to rely on, and if we are running them that close then obviously we will be in with a strong chance of banking all three points. It means we can’t sit back any, something that is never in our psyche.
“We have riders who have gone well there in the past and this has all the makings of being a nail-biter.
“When we were there last year the meeting went into a Super Heat decider and it would be no surprise to me if we didn’t find ourselves having to contest another this time around.”
REDCAR: Charles Wright, Jason Edwards, Dan Gilkes, Jordan Jenkins, Danny King, Ben Trigger, Jake Mulford.
POOLE: Richard Lawson, Tobias Thomsen, Tom Brennan, Zach Cook, Ben Cook, Sam Hagon, Vinnie Foord.
