BEARS SNATCH DRAMATIC WIN

REDCAR pulled off an incredible comeback to win 46-44 at Edinburgh and give their Cab Direct Championship play-off hopes a massive boost.

Danny King scored a paid maximum (13+2) for the Bears and combined with captain Charles Wright (15+1) for two crucial 5-1s in Heats 13 and 15 as the visitors fought back from eight points down with four races remaining.

With the aggregate point also secured, the result moves the Teesside outfit up to fifth in the table, level on points with Workington albeit having raced more meetings.

Kye Thomson scored 10+2 for the Monarchs, whose second home defeat in the league came as a major blow.

Edinburgh manager Alex Harkess said: “It was very disappointing. We had opened up a bit of a gap and I wanted to keep that gap, but it didn’t happen.

“It came down to a last heat decider and we had no-one to stand up to their top two who were very dominant.”
