KILLEEN INTO EURO FINAL

OXFORD’S Luke Killeen has made it into his first European Final after scoring ten points his Under-19 qualifier in Plzen on Saturday.

In extreme heat of 39 degrees, Killeen – racing in his first event at FIM level – required two points from his last heat to be sure of going through, and he made sure by winning from the tough gate four in a race which featured fellow qualifiers Mikkel Andersen and Pawel Trzeniewski.

Meanwhile Killeen’s Cheetahs team-mate Ashton Boughen will also travel to the Final in Germany in October, although he had to settle for a reserve place.

Boughen started the meeting with two second places, but in his third heat was involved in a collision with Trzesniewski and had to swap to his second bike, finishing with eight points.

The second qualifier takes place in Finland on July 20 where GB will be represented by Luke Harrison and Ben Trigger.
