HAGON TARGETS HOME VICTORY

POOLE play host to an array of top talent from the National Development League with Individual honours up for grabs at Wimborne Road tonight (Wednesday).

British Under-21 Champion and Pirates reserve Sam Hagon will be amongst the favourites for the event but he is likely to face stern competition from several other riders.

The meeting runs over 20 heats and is a standalone contest with a winner to be declared on the night.

With each NDL club represented there is further interest for home fans with the presence of Hagon’s current reserve colleague Vinnie Foord, as well as the rider he recently replaced, Max Perry.

And there are seven other riders who currently race at Championship level, including former Pirates reserve Nathan Ablitt, and Ben Trigger who generally makes the long trip from his Devon base to Redcar for home meetings.

Late alterations to the line-up see Joe Thompson come in for the unwell Freddy Hodder, whilst Stene Pijper replaces Ashton Vale.

Poole promoter Danny Ford said: “I know that Sam Hagon will be strongly fancied by many to win this meeting and indeed there is no reason why, with the form he has shown this season, he shouldn’t.

“But he goes into the meeting with a big target on his back and I am sure that all his opponents will raise their game and try to upset the form book.

“Jake Mulford, Connor Coles, Nathan Ablitt and Joe Thompson are all serious contenders too and I am sure that we will be in for a good night’s entertainment across the 20 heats.”
