PREVIEW: IPSWICH v KING’S LYNN (ROWE MOTOR OIL PREM)
EAST Anglian rivals Ipswich and King’s Lynn meet for the first time this season today (Monday, 2.15pm) in a big afternoon fixture at Foxhall.
The Witches are top of the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership after winning at Leicester last Thursday, whilst the Stars picked up their first victory on the same night against Birmingham.
But that result came at a cost with No.1 and captain Tobiasz Musielak suffering a broken collarbone, and the visitors will operate rider replacement for the Polish star.
Ipswich call upon the services of Scott Nicholls to guest for skipper Danny King who is sidelined with a hand injury.
Witches boss Ritchie Hawkins said: “We are all massively excited to be racing again on Monday, the Bank Holiday fixture always draws a big crowd, and it is a local derby.
“We are looking to carry on our superb start to the season and we know how important a local derby is to everyone at the club. We need to get the two points and certainly can’t afford to drop points to King’s Lynn at home.
“I’m delighted that Scott can come in, if Danny is out, he is right up there as one of the top guests, he is absolutely flying this year. It’s Scott Nicholls, what more can you say!”
Stars manager Rob Lyon said: “It’s going to be very tough without Tobi. He’s our No.1, and trying to replace a No.1 with only one team racing where no average really fits for him is very tough, and we really have no option other than r/r.
“But that’s speedway, and that’s what we’re faced with. If Patryk (Wojdylo) could get 17 or 18 again we’ve got a good chance, but you have to bear in mind Ipswich is very different to King’s Lynn!
“Thursday’s performance will give him confidence though to go into meetings like this one with a decent set-up, and hopefully he can kick on from there and really do some damage.”
