POSTPONED: IPSWICH v LEICESTER (Prem KOC)

IPSWICH were forced to postpone Thursday’s KO Cup tie against Leicester as too much rain had fallen to enable the track to dry out. A new date is to be agreed.

IPSWICH carry a six-point advantage over Leicester as they return to Foxhall for the second leg of their Premiership KO Cup tie tonight (Thursday).

The Witches put in an impressive team performance to win 48-42 at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, Beaumont Park on Easter Monday.

But manager Ritchie Hawkins is urging against complacency as the current Cup holders look to make it through to the semi-finals.

Hawkins said: “I am expecting a very tough, challenging meeting and I’m sure it will be an entertaining one. I know Stewart (Dickson) and Leicester will be coming to Ipswich to win and go through in the tie.

“They are capable of doing that and we will need to have the same determination as we did on Monday to get the job done and get through to the next round.”

Dickson said: “We have to go there and give it a go. I’ve been in speedway long enough to know that strange results pop up.

“I know the bookies would call it a long shot, but stranger things have happened, and we’ve got to go there believing that we can try to claw it back.”
