POSTPONED: KING’S LYNN v LEICESTER (Prem)
KING’S Lynn’s home season opener against Leicester has been postponed due to torrential rain.
The stadium has been hit by heavy downpours, and the forecast for the remainder of the day and into the evening has deteriorated.
A new date for the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership clash with the Lions is to be arranged.
KING’S Lynn and Leicester will contest the first aggregate point of the new season when the sides meet at the Adrian Flux Arena tonight (Thursday).
Both managers have stressed the importance of aggregate wins in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership, and with the Lions having won by five points last week another close contest is expected.
Both teams are unchanged with the Stars handing home debuts to Tobiasz Musielak, Vadim Tarasenko, Benjamin Basso and Patryk Wojdylo.
Lynn boss Rob Lyon said: “Obviously you want to pick up some away wins if you can, but I keep saying home form is key.
“Getting three out of the five available points against teams home and away is also going to be key, and we’re well set now to get that aggregate bonus if we can get a good win at home.
“It won’t be easy because Leicester are obviously a good side, they’re a solid outfit, but that’s the case for all the teams this year.”
Lions manager Stewart Dickson said: “We’re holding five points on aggregate, and if at any time we were to go six behind we can throw in a tactical.
“But maybe we won’t be six behind, because it’s a track that I think most of our riders enjoy, and with the team we’ve got this year, they’ve all raced that track plenty of times.
“We’ll got there in a positive mood, and at worst we’ll try and get the aggregate point, but we’d love to come away with a win.”
KING’S LYNN: Tobiasz Musielak, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Michael Palm Toft, Benjamin Basso, Vadim Tarasenko, Patryk Wojdylo, Anders Rowe.
LEICESTER: Max Fricke, Richard Lawson, Sam Masters, Luke Becker, Ryan Douglas, Drew Kemp, Joe Thompson.
