BRUMMIES UP FOR TIGERS CLASH

BIRMINGHAM CEO Nigel Tolley insists reigning champions Sheffield won’t have it all their own way when they visit Perry Barr on Monday.

Both sides have visited Oxford in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership and gone down to narrow 47-43 defeats, and this will be the Brummies’ first home match since their elevation to the top-flight.

Tolley said: “It’s going to be very interesting. I think we’re going to have exciting racing all the way through and it might only be our first home meeting, but we’re not going to let Sheffield have it all their own way.

“After the first six races at Oxford I was a little bit worried, but we saw plenty from the riders who showed what they’re capable of so I was very pleased by the end.

“The team spent three consecutive days together earlier this week and everything seems like it’s bonding together nicely.

“Some people out there might not be giving us a chance against the champions – but the Brummies are up for it and we’re going to give it a real good go.”
