ADAMS: COUNCILS ARE TALKING
WOLVERHAMPTON manager Peter Adams has stressed efforts are continuing to find land where the club could re-locate.
Adams has been speaking to the ‘Humans of Speedway’ podcast and has re-affirmed his commitment to the former Monmore outfit, who saw their tenancy end at the completion of the 2023 season as landlords Entain opted to focus on their greyhound business.
That means Wolves, who had been continuous members of British Speedway’s top-flight for nearly 40 years, are unable to race this year.
Adams said: “Wolverhampton Council have been quite supportive, and although they’ve drawn a complete blank in finding parcels of land within the Wolverhampton conurbation, there are other surrounding Councils who might be in a position to help.
“I know Wolverhampton Council are talking to neighbouring Councils about whether they might be able to provide a solution for us.
“It takes a long time to build a speedway facility from scratch, and the time is ticking, so we’ve got to get our skates on if we’re going to come to the party any time soon.”
Adams spoke in-depth to Ian Brannan for ‘Humans of Speedway’ reflecting on an outstanding career in management, winning multiple league titles with Coventry, Cradley Heath and Wolverhampton, and mentoring five World Champions including Great Britain’s Tai Woffinden.
