Report

KING’S Lynn completed a positive week by following up their victory at Birmingham with a 48-42 win over Oxford.

The Stars did threaten to take the aggregate point as well as despite trailing by 18 points from their trip to Cowley last week, they had cut that gap to two with four races remaining.

But the Spires finished strongly with two 5-1s in the last two races to take some reward on the night.
Guest Richard Lawson starred for the Stars with 13 and Jan Kvech added 12, whilst Maciej Janowski raced to 14+2 for the visitors on one of his old home tracks.

King’s Lynn boss Rob Lyon said: “I think we were comfortable all the way through and at one point we were chasing the aggregate.

“It got very close at one point but fair play to Oxford, they kept pulling it back.

“But we always felt in control of the meeting, which was the main thing to get another win on the board, so we’re happy with that.”

Oxford manager Peter Schroeck said: “It was always going to be tough with six riders, but we got the aggregate point which is really important to protect that fifth place.

“King’s Lynn have to do some work now to try and nick that off us, and that was the agenda today to be quite honest.

“It did look bleak for a little while, but everything we did worked well and some of the boys did a bit of overtime, we got their in the end and I’m really proud of them.”

KING’S LYNN 48: Richard Lawson 13, Jan Kvech 12, Lewis Kerr 8+1, Patryk Wojdylo 7, Anders Rowe 6+3, Simon Lambert 2+1, Benjamin Basso r/r.
OXFORD 42: Maciej Janowski 14+2, Charles Wright 8+1, Erik Riss 7+1, Chris Harris 7+1, Ashton Boughen 5, Ben Trigger 1, Rohan Tungate r/r.
