SCORPIONS APPOINT HOWE
SCUNTHORPE have appointed former club captain David Howe as their new team manager for the 2024 season.
Howe, who was British Under-21 Champion in 2000 and twice finished on the rostrum in the senior British Final, spent seven years racing for the Scorpions between 2009-15.
He has retained a close association with the Championship club since retiring and has been serving as mechanic for Ryan Douglas, who was their No.1 in the last two years.
Howe takes over from Dave Peet, who stood down after leading the Scorpions to silverware in the KO Cup last month.
Promoter Rob Godfrey said: “David has been a rider and he’s been a mechanic. I think he was a little apprehensive of the rules, but they are quite simple and he’s always got me and other people to fall back on for that.
“His talent is going to be in motivating the team and helping with set-ups and passing on his experience. I am so excited to have him on board.
“He brings so much quality to the position and I just think, even though I know it’s very early to be saying this, that appointing him is one of the catalysts for us being able to challenge for the title next season.”
