TIGERS ARE CHAMPIONS

GLASGOW are celebrating their first league title since 2011 after clinching the Cab Direct Championship at Poole on Wednesday.

Chris Harris was once again inspirational for the Tigers as they defended their 14-point first leg advantage, restricting the Pirates to a 47-43 win on the night.

Harris was unbeaten prior to Heat 15 and sealed the crown by winning Heat 13, whilst his 14 points were backed up by Tom Brennan with 9+1 and Vadim Tarasenko with 9.

Ben Cook top-scored for the outgoing champions with 11 and Steve Worrall notched 10 as the Pirates suffered a rare Grand Final defeat.

Delighted Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “It was an incredible display from all the boys and Chris was exceptional, dropping only one point all night.

“I can’t explain how much this means for the club, the Facenna family owners and the fans.

“We’ve waited 12 years for this moment and to get the result against the mighty Poole Pirates is just out of this world.

“I’m so proud of every single one of the team, the backroom staff and the volunteers.

“This was the best performance from a Glasgow team I can remember for a very long time.

“It’s a moment of history. Every rider rode out of their skin. They stopped Poole all night and didn’t give them a sniff of clawing back the deficit we opened up at Ashfield.”
