PREVIEW: SCUNTHORPE v REDCAR (Champ KO Cup S/F)

SCUNTHORPE and Redcar turn their attentions to the Championship KO Cup with the first leg of their semi-final at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight (Friday).

Both teams were knocked out of the play-offs at the group stage and will now look to book a Cup Final place where Poole once again await the winners.

The Scorpions are at full strength whilst the Bears track Leon Flint as a guest for Charles Wright, and Luke Harrison again stands in at reserve.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “It was a big disappointment to miss out to Poole in the play-offs, but we still have a trophy to go for and it’s a major trophy as well.

“I believe it is realistic that we can get to the Cup Final and come the Final, I also believe it’s realistic that we can lift the trophy.

“We have met the Bears twice already this season, in the early season BSN Series and then the league, and we managed to get the better of them both times on aggregate. We will now attempt to do that for a third time to book our place in the Cup Final.”

Bears boss Gavin Parr said: “We will of course be going to Scunthorpe to win the meeting but we know it will be another tough test. If we can’t go and get the win, we will be aiming to keep the deficit into single figures ahead of the second leg at home next Friday.

“Despite having a few defeats, the team spirit is still really high! With four of our riders involved in a play-off Final at Premiership level, they want the opportunity to add another trophy to their haul in the KO Cup.”

SCUNTHORPE: Ryan Douglas, Connor Mountain, Simon Lambert, Jake Allen, Michael Palm Toft, Nathan Ablitt, Drew Kemp.
REDCAR: Danny King, Danyon Hume, Connor Bailey, Leon Flint, Erik Riss, Jason Edwards, Luke Harrison.
