PREVIEW: PETERBOROUGH v SHEFFIELD (Sports Insure Prem)
PETERBOROUGH bid for a hat-trick of home wins when they host play-off qualifiers Sheffield in the Sports Insure Premiership tonight (Monday).
The Panthers defeated the Tigers 53-37 a fortnight ago and also claimed a second leg KO Cup victory over Ipswich as their fortunes improve in the closing stages of the campaign.
But the Owlerton side were rocked at the weekend with Tai Woffinden’s crash in the British Grand Prix, and they will operate rider replacement at the East of England Arena.
Peterborough also operate r/r with Niels-Kristian Iversen ruled out with a neck and shoulder injury.
Panthers captain Chris Harris said: “Everyone is battling hard for their team-mate, and that’s all you can ask for – battling to the bitter end.
“I’m sure Monday night will be another tough one against Sheffield, and they will want to keep in form ahead of the play-offs, but we’ll have another go and hopefully get another win.”
Sheffield co-promoter Damien Bates said: “It was obviously a pretty nasty crash for Tai and he came down pretty hard. We hope to have some news in the next few days, but he’ll definitely be missing on Monday.
“It just seems our luck at the minute that just when we think we’ve got a full 1-7 sorted we’re dealt another blow.
“But we’ll pull together and our first focus is on Monday where we hope to put in a better showing at Peterborough this time around.”
PETERBOROUGH: Artem Laguta, Chris Harris, Vadim Tarasenko, Benjamin Basso, Niels-Kristian Iversen r/r, Ben Cook, Jordan Jenkins.
SHEFFIELD: Tai Woffinden r/r, Kyle Howarth, Chris Holder, Josh Pickering, Tobiasz Musielak, Claus Vissing, Jason Edwards.
