HARRIS HOLDS THE ADVANTAGE

GREAT Britian’s Chris Harris leads the FIM Long Track World Championship with one round remaining after battling his way to third place in Morizes on Saturday.

The Peterborough skipper is just one point ahead of German racer Martin Smolinski, who finished second in France to cut the gap ahead of a head-to-head finale in Muhldorf on September 17.

The title rivals were on the podium behind Dutchman Romano Hummel, with Harris making a pass on Dave Meijerink heading into the last lap of the Final to ensure he retained the series lead.

GB’s other representative Zach Wajtknecht missed out on a place in the Final after suffering mechanical trouble in the Last Chance race, but he is still third overall with a six-point advantage over Hummel and Kenneth Hansen.
