BIG RESULT FOR BEN

PLYMOUTH favourite Ben Barker was the surprise package of the Sports Insure British Final as he raced all the way into the top three.

Barker, whose previous rostrum places had come way back in 2010 and 2014, finished third for the third time in his career in what was only his second meeting of a frustrating summer given the Gladiators’ recent misfortune with postponements.

He said: “It’s always nice to get on the podium. It’s been a long while since I’ve done it so to be third on the night is brilliant.  

“I haven’t raced my bike in nearly six weeks so that makes this an even bigger achievement.

“Well done to both Dan (Bewley) and Stevie (Worrall), everyone got stuck in and it was a fantastic night in the end.”
