PREVIEW: BELLE VUE v SHEFFIELD (Sports Insure Prem)
TAI Woffinden makes his Sheffield debut in tonight’s (Monday) televised Sports Insure Premiership ‘Roses’ clash as the Tigers head to Belle Vue.
Woffinden has joined the Owlerton club as an injury replacement for Jack Holder, and his first appearance comes at the National Speedway Stadium against the league leaders.
Sheffield outfit currently fourth in the standings, level on points with Ipswich – but they have five meetings in hand over the Witches, who travel to Peterborough.
Tigers boss Simon Stead said: “Obviously we’re excited to have Tai as a part of Sheffield, and he’s already having a positive effect on the club – but now we need to transfer that onto the track.
“We’ve got a super-busy August coming up and we need to secure and finalise our place in those play-off positions and work our way up the table.
“We went unbeaten in July, which was great, and we want to continue this rich vein of form we find ourselves in.”
Belle Vue manager Mark Lemon said: “There’s no doubt this will be one of our biggest tests so far. The Tigers are the only team to have defeated us at home this year and though it was back in March, it is still hurts.
“But on both occasions we visited Owlerton, we performed admirably but tripped just short of the finish line and we, as a team, have come a long way since March.
“I believe this is a match for anyone to win. We know how strong we are at home, and our boys have the drive and the passion to succeed and I firmly believe that we will.”
BELLE VUE: Brady Kurtz, Tom Brennan, Jaimon Lidsey, Charles Wright, Dan Bewley, Norick Blodorn, Connor Bailey.
SHEFFIELD: Tobiasz Musielak, Kyle Howarth, Adam Ellis, Josh Pickering, Tai Woffinden, Lewis Kerr, Dan Gilkes.
