NEW DATES FOR PLAY-OFFS

REVISED dates have been agreed for the Sports Insure Premiership play-offs due to the weather issues which have affected the 2023 season.

The semi-finals will now get underway on Monday September 18, one week later than originally scheduled, with the Grand Final taking place on Monday October 2 and Thursday October 5.

The changes also mean the dates earmarked for the KO Cup Final, which was to take place in week commencing September 4, will also be pushed back by one week.

The top-flight saw several fixtures postponed during a wet start to the campaign, and the unseasonal spell of weather in July has created a further backlog.

Premiership CEO Phil Morris said: “This has been discussed between all the clubs, and I would like to thank our broadcast partners at Eurosport and discovery+ for their understanding.

“The number of postponements we have experienced meant it was going to be almost impossible to complete the fixtures by the end of August, and we wanted to take a decision now to give everyone clarity on our intentions.

“By pushing the play-offs, and the KO Cup Final, back by a week it means the clubs have the opportunity to compete their fixtures in early September, and we can then look forward to the top four doing battle for the league title.”

REVISED PLAY-OFF DATES:

Semi-finals: Monday September 18, Thursday September 21, Monday September 25, Thursday September 28.

Grand Final: Monday October 2, Thursday October 5.

KO CUP FINAL:

Monday September 11 and Thursday September 14.
