BOUGHEN WINS AT WORKINGTON

LEICESTER’S Ashton Boughen underlined his rapid development by defeating a top field to win the Susan Roper Memorial at Workington.

The 15-year-old scored 13 points in the qualifying races, with recent speedway returnee Steve Boxall matching that total whilst Jack Smith was just behind on 12.

Having come through the semi-final, Boughen won the Final ahead of Jack Smith whilst Max Perry was third, leaving Boxall just off the rostrum.
