POSTPONED: SHEFFIELD v WOLVERHAMPTON (Sports Insure Prem)

MONDAY’S scheduled Premiership match at Owlerton between Sheffield and Wolverhampton has been postponed because of a waterlogged track.

Torrential rain over the weekend left the track underwater and despite the best, early morning efforts of the track staff, they had to admit defeat with not enough turnaround time to recover the damage caused. A new date will be announced in due course.

SHEFFIELD make a quick return to Owlerton tonight (Monday) when they host Wolverhampton in the Sports Insure Premiership.

The Tigers beat rivals Belle Vue 50-40 in the Steel City on Thursday to make it four league wins on the spin, and ten points is the margin for the aggregate point tonight after Wolves won the reverse fixture in mid-May.

If Sheffield take all three points they will go above the visitors and into third place in the league table.

The Tigers operate rider replacement for Adam Ellis who is on World Cup duty with Great Britain, and Justin Sedgmen guests for the injured Lewis Kerr.

Polish star Tobiasz Musielak said: “Every meeting we just want to do the best we can, it doesn’t matter what team we hit, and right now we are winning speedway meetings.

“We will stay positive, hopefully the track will be the same as Thursday and hopefully it will be another huge result for us.”

Wolves track a much-changed team with Danny King guesting for the injured Rory Schlein, and Chris Harris in for Sam Masters who is out of the UK in order to comply with visa requirements involving his partner.

Ryan Douglas and Steve Worrall also miss the meeting with no facility available, and they are replaced by Jake Allen and Stefan Nielsen.

Manager Peter Adams said: “It’s difficult when you’ve got riders like Worrall and Douglas who are good around Sheffield and you’re restricted to replacements with an average only three-quarters of theirs.

“So you’re looking at riders with less than a five point average to replace those two.

“We can’t pretend we’ve covered them with like-for-like replacements but in the other two positions, I expect big things from King and Bomber.”

SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Justin Sedgmen, Josh Pickering, Adam Ellis R/R, Tobiasz Musielak, Kyle Howarth, Dan Gilkes.
WOLVERHAMPTON: Chris Harris, Stefan Nielsen, Luke Becker, Jake Allen, Danny King, Zach Cook, Leon Flint.
