PREVIEW: POOLE v GLASGOW (BSN SERIES FINAL)
POOLE promoter Dan Ford says a big home score is the target tonight (Wednesday) as the Pirates host Glasgow in the first leg of the BSN Series Final.
Ford is adamant there is more to come from his team, who enjoyed a strong start to the season before a wake-up call at Oxford last month.
Richard Lawson takes over at No.1 for the Pirates, exchanging places with Steve Worrall, with both teams at full strength.
Ford said: “Wednesday night probably has a slight extra edge to it now as we only have one option, and that is to post as big a score as possible to put us in a strong position to lift the trophy when we eventually go to their place on the 21st.
“Our lads believe in their own ability and the good thing, in a way, is that collectively, we have not seen all our riders at their individual best too often this season, and the determination is there to make it happen.
“This is a Cup Final, and those two words just up the ante that extra bit, and I am sure those that turn out at the stadium on Wednesday night will be in for a thrilling meeting.”
Glasgow captain Tom Brennan said: “Of course it’s going to be a huge task. The Pirates have won pretty much everything over the past two years for a reason, they have got the know-how and delivered when it counts.
“But most of the boys in this Glasgow team have achieved success down the years. We’ve just got to make sure we all turn up and produce the points on both nights.”
POOLE: Richard Lawson, Anders Rowe, Ben Cook, Zach Cook, Steve Worrall, Kyle Newman, Adam Roynon.
GLASGOW: Chris Harris, Marcin Nowak, Tom Brennan, Claus Vissing, Benjamin Basso, Lee Complin, Ace Pijper.
