PREVIEW: WORKINGTON v OXFORD (NDL)

WORKINGTON host Oxford at Northside today (Saturday) in a big clash of two play-off contenders in the National Development League.

The sides currently sit third and second in the table respectively, and an away win would be enough to take the Chargers to the top – but if the hosts prevail, they will move into second.

The Comets welcome back Elliot Kelly, whilst the Chargers bring in Alfie Bowtell to guest at No.1 for Jordan Jenkins (wrist). Former Workington rider Kelsey Dugard is also out, with rider replacement in operation, and Sam Woods guests at reserve for Luke Killeen.

Comets boss James Denham said: “It’s been a couple of weeks since boys have last rode at Northside, and last time out it was great to get the win over current league champions Leicester. We just need to go out there and do the business.”

Oxford manager Peter Schroeck said: “This is a big one for us. We’ve been in great form lately, but so have Workington and they’re entering this fixture full of confidence.

“It’s a new track for us, so the early heats might take some getting used to the configuration and the racing surface. We’ll have to pull together as a team and work hard together if we’re to get points out of this meeting.”

WORKINGTON: Connor Bailey, Elliot Kelly, Sam McGurk, Luke Crang, Ace Pijper, Luke Harrison, Harry McGurk.
OXFORD: Alfie Bowtell, Kelsey Dugard r/r, Ryan Kinsley, Jody Scott, Henry Atkins, Sam Woods, Jacob Clouting.
