TIGERS SHOW THEIR MUSCLE

GLASGOW moved up to second place in the Cab Direct Championship and still have a 100 per cent record after a rain-curtailed 38-28 win over Scunthorpe.

The meeting was abandoned after 11 races with the result standing, on what had been a tough night for the Scorpions who lost reserve Connor Mountain with a knee injury in the early stages.

Mountain is expected to be fit for their next fixture, but it reduced the visitors to five riders on the night as they were already operating rider replacement for Michael Palm Toft.

Chris Harris and Benjamin Basso both scored eight from three rides for the Tigers, whilst Ryan Douglas and Drew Kemp matched those scores for the Scorpions.

Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “We’ve done a lot of work to the track over the past few days and the boys pulled off some brilliant passes all over the track.

“The racing has been outstanding all season, but the lads really pushed a tough Scunthorpe side.

“We’ve had a couple of below par home performances this season, but we are back to our best. We showed more muscle tonight.”

Scunthorpe manager Dave Peet said: “To be honest, it probably did us a favour. I’d already used up the tactical substitute and we were starting to run out of riders. Had the last four races been held, there’s every chance that Glasgow would have pulled further ahead.

“I don’t have any problems with our performance tonight. We started one rider down, then lost another, but the boys all put a shift in and did their best.”
