PREVIEW: BRITISH YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP, Redcar

THE 2023 British Youth Championship moves onto Redcar this afternoon (Saturday) and the first heat will be starting at midday.

With this event being the last standalone round of the 2023 series, with second half events still scheduled for Scunthorpe, Belle Vue and Kent twice, there is again a fantastic turnout of numbers across all the Youth Classes – as well as the third and final round of the 2023 British Women’s Championship featuring Britian’s No.1 rider Katie Gordon and the German sensation Celina Liebmann.

The 500cc class looks very competitive with two NDL riders who have recently qualified to compete in next month’s British Under-21 Final at Glasgow in the shape of Ashton Boughen and Jody Scott.

In the 250cc class Seth Norman again competes after successfully making his debut at Scunthorpe just a week ago having stepped up from the 125cc, but he will have to be on his best form to compete with previous round winners William Cairns and Jamie Etherington.

There will be eight riders competing in the 125cc Championship class and it’s expected that Oliver Bovingdon, who rides for the Redcar Bears in the Northern Junior League, will be the one to beat.

The support class has the biggest number of attendees with a fantastic 15 riders competing and Nottingham’s Kane Newby will be going for a hattrick of wins amongst others.

The Young Lions Management would like to thank the Redcar Bears promotion for their continued support of British Youth Speedway as well as their series sponsors and the members of the BSP Ltd.
