PREVIEW: STEVE WORRALL TESTIMONIAL, POOLE

POOLE captain Steve Worrall celebrates his Testimonial Meeting tonight (Wednesday) with a strong line-up and plenty of off-track entertainment.

A Pirates Select featuring former World Champion Artem Laguta will face a Belle Vue Select at Wimborne Road, with the meeting now blessed with good weather after being postponed in the spring.

Worrall said: “Artem is a big thing for me, because other than driving all the way to say, Leicester or Wolves or even King’s Lynn, fans of Poole are not going to get to see him.

“You’ve got to travel afar, so it will be nice for him to come over this side of the country, and hopefully people from all the local clubs will come across as well. 

“Him and Matej Zagar will be going head-to-head and I have tried to balance the teams out so that they are really fair.”

Worrall is backing local homeless charity Routes to Roots Poole with a donation point set up, and there will also be live music before the meeting.

The event is also live-streamed for those unable to attend in person.
