PREVIEW: POOLE v SCUNTHORPE (Cab Direct Champ)

POOLE begin their defence of the Cab Direct Championship title when they host Scunthorpe at Wimborne Road tonight (Wednesday).

But the Pirates will go into the meeting without heat-leader Richard Lawson, who was involved in a frightening Heat 15 crash at Leicester on Monday and is in hospital for checks, although no broken bones are reported.

Justin Sedgmen guests for the home side whilst the Scorpions operate rider replacement for Michael Palm Toft who has a clashing fixture in Denmark.

Pirates promoter Dan Ford said: “We will be looking to get our Cab Direct Championship league campaign off to a positive start. If we put in a stint like we did on Saturday (at Redcar) then our fans can be certain of having plenty to cheer for.

“I guess some may take a look at the Scunthorpe side and consider a lack of firepower, but they have put some good results together this season so far and so we will need to be up for it, there is no room for complacency in this sport.”

Scorpions promoter Rob Godfrey said: “You go into every meeting with the intention to win it, but the aggregate points are going to be very important in the Cab Direct Championship. If you pick them up, you’ve outscored the other team across the two leagues.

“We’ve already put ourselves in a good position to pick up the aggregate points from Plymouth and Berwick. We will be heading to Poole and looking to score as many points as possible, so that we can pick up the aggregate point when they head back to the Eddie Wright Raceway in August.”

POOLE: Steve Worrall, Anders Rowe, Ben Cook, Zach Cook, Justin Sedgmen, Kyle Newman, Adam Roynon.
SCUNTHORPE: Ryan Douglas, Michael Palm Toft r/r, Simon Lambert, Max Clegg, Jake Allen, Nathan Ablitt, Connor Mountain.
