PREVIEW: KENT v BERWICK (NDL)
KENT hand a seasonal debut to Jack Kingston in today’s (Sunday) NDL clash with Berwick at Iwade.
Kingston, who rode for the club in their original launch campaign at nearby Central Park back in 2013, has replaced Joe Alcock as the Royals bid for their first win of the season.
Meanwhile the Bullets bring in Chris Watts and Jason Garrad as Mason Watson and Josh Embleton are both ruled out injured, and they continue to operate rider replacement for long-term absentee Archie Freeman.
Kent boss Jamie Willis said: “We’re looking forward to being back on home soil after a run of away meetings.
“With the inclusion of Jack we have tinkered with our riding order to try and maximise our chances. He is an experienced NDL rider which will give us some extra firepower.”
Berwick promoter Gary Flint hopes former Kent rider Jamie Halder, who is now in the top five of the team, can keep up his good start to the season on his old home track.
Flint said: “Jamie’s promotion into the main team is a reflection of just how well he has gone this season, especially on the away tracks.
“We will miss his firepower from reserve but, especially with his season as a Royal last year, he can have a big influence on Sunday both on track and with his advice to the rest of the team on set-ups and racing lines.”
