BANDITS PRAISE FOR COLES
BERWICK boss Gary Flint has heaped praise on reserve Connor Coles – who had to contend with the serious issue of family illness ahead of the weekend win over Scunthorpe.
Coles scored 6+1 against the Scorpions but his participation had been in doubt when his partner and two young children were unwell, with six-month old Poppie needing hospital treatment.
Flint said: “The way that Connor has grabbed his opportunity has been the highlight of our season so far.
“And the way he remained focussed after a week when it would have been very easy to be distracted by things away from speedway reflects very highly on him.
“Family comes first, especially when it involves such young children. Our concern was for their recovery, but we also had to plan for Connor not being able to make the trip to Shielfield.”
