TIGERS TOP SCOTTISH GROUP

GLASGOW surged into the BSN Series semi-finals with a dominant 58-32 win over Berwick at Ashfield.

The Tigers topped the Scottish group with eight points, taking match and aggregate points at Ashfield, and it leaves the Bandits hoping for two major swings in the other groups for them to be the best runners-up.

Home skipper Tom Brennan raced to a 15-point maximum as Glasgow won all but two of the heats, with Chris Harris (11+1) and Benjamin Basso (11) both also in the big points.

Thomas Jorgensen top-scored for the visitors with 11, and they were hampered by the loss of Jonas Knudsen who suffered abdominal and groin injuries in a Heat 1 crash. Tigers reserve Ace Pijper was also later withdrawn with lower back pain after a heavy spill.

Berwick manager Gary Flint said: “It’s good news that Jonas’s scans are clear because he hit the fence with some force.

“He had looked really good up to that point and without the crash I think he would probably have scored quite a few points.

“Obviously Glasgow are very good around their own track, and we have to pick ourselves up for the Cup match against Redcar.”
