TIGERS SURGE THROUGH

SHEFFIELD charged into the KO Cup semi-finals with a massive 56-34 away win at King’s Lynn – to complete a 48-point aggregate victory.

The Tigers maintained their superb recent record on trips to the Adrian Flux Arena with No.1 Jack Holder scoring a 14+1 paid maximum, whilst Richard Lawson (11+1) was also unbeaten as he made a late guest appearance against his former club.

They now await the conclusion of the Belle Vue/Wolverhampton tie before discovering their opponents in the last four, whilst the Stars were left to lick their wounds, Krzysztof Kasprzak top scoring with 9+1.

Sheffield manager Simon Stead said: “We treated King’s Lynn with respect, we went about our business how we always do with the aim of winning on the night, and the lads were fully committed and focused on finishing the job we started at Owlerton a few weeks ago.

“We were just very, very good and it was a really nice way to get back to it after losing at Ipswich last week.”

King’s Lynn boss Alex Brady said: “I’m not afraid to pull my punches, I let the riders know my feelings during the meeting and I’ve let them know again in the changing rooms afterwards.

“All I can say is I hope they can produce a reaction, because we seriously need one. We knew it would be tough to qualify because we didn’t do ourselves justice away, but the expectation was to come here and win, and run it as close as we could, and even from Heat 1 onwards we weren’t in contention.”
