BRONZE FOR GB AT STRALSUND

GREAT Britain secured the bronze medal position in Saturday’s FIME European Team Championship Grand Final in Germany.

The GB side finished third behind Poland and Denmark at Stralsund, and ahead of the host nation by eight points, in the tournament which features a maximum of one Grand Prix rider per nation.

Dan Bewley top scored with 11 of GB’s 22 points, with the other contributions coming from Adam Ellis with five, Tom Brennan with four, and Richie Worrall on two.

GB boss Olly Allen said: “We knew it was going to be tough, and to beat Germany on their own track is no easy feat.

“We need to remember we’ve got a bronze medal today – okay, we were quite a few points behind first and second; however, to get here we had to beat Czech Republic in the Czech Republic, and we had to score more points than Sweden and they put a super-strong team out.

“We’ve done ourselves proud when you look at the two meetings and where we finished. I think the guys have done well, and everyone here has played their part.”
