SCORPIONS CLOSE IN ON SEMIS

SCUNTHORPE completed the double over Birmingham to take another step towards the BSN Series semi-finals.

The Scorpions were 55-35 winners at the Eddie Wright Raceway as they also collected the aggregate point to move up to a maximum seven points out of seven in the Northern group so far.

Michael Palm Toft scored a 12-point maximum for the hosts whilst fellow heat-leaders Ryan Douglas (13+1) and Jake Allen (11+1) were all in strong form with Douglas dropping his only point in Heat 1, and Allen unbeaten until Heat 15.

Brummies guest Zach Cook scored 8+2, but the visitors were limited to just three heat wins.

Birmingham boss Laurence Rogers said: “Of course we’re disappointed with the end result. Our night got off to a bad start when Alfie (Bowtell) was disqualified for touching the tapes – then Ty (Proctor) came in and got disqualified for the same thing.

“We just need more track time as a team and things will start to improve, I’m sure.”
