PREVIEW: STUART ROBSON FAREWELL (SUN)

STUART Robson is set to finally bring the curtain down on a distinguished career – with his Farewell Meeting at Redcar on Sunday (3pm) the first event of the domestic season.

Robson retired from racing after over 25 years in the sport at the end of 2019, but three previous attempts to run his Farewell have been scuppered by the pandemic, the weather and rider unavailability.

He has secured a strong field to compete at the ECCO Arena, including World No.4 Fredrik Lindgren, Danish stars Niels-Kristian Iversen and Nicolai Klindt, and former British Champions Chris Harris, Danny King and Bears skipper Charles Wright.

Robson said: “I’ve had some great line-ups for the three postponed meetings, but this is the best one I’ve had so far!

“I would like to thank the 18 riders for agreeing to race in the meeting as it is hard to get the full line-up in place.

“Anyone could conceivably go on to win the meeting as it’s a really strong line-up. I wouldn’t like to pick a favourite to be honest. I think there’s nine or ten riders who could finish on the podium.”

There will also be a Ben Fund collection at the meeting, along with live streaming for supporters who cannot attend but still wish to back the event. Visit www.redcar-speedway.tv for details.

LINE-UP: Simon Lambert, Nicolai Klindt, Ryan Douglas, Chris Harris, Jordan Jenkins, Danny King, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Lee Complin, Charles Wright, Tom Brennan, Sam Masters, Paul Starke, Fredrik Lindgren, Leon Flint, Kyle Howarth, Justin Sedgmen. Reserves: Archie Freeman, Kyran Lyden.
