PIRATES SEEK THOMAS REPLACEMENT

POOLE promoter Dan Ford has spoken of his disappointment for winter signing Jack Thomas following his serious crash on Thursday.

The Cab Direct Championship holders are now considering their options for a replacement after Thomas suffered multiple injuries which will leave him facing an extended period on the sidelines.

Ford said: “I am sure I can speak on behalf of speedway supporters across the globe when I say that we wish Jack a speedy recovery. I know our own fans will be disappointed that we will not have the chance to see Jack do a full season with us.

“We can only hope that Jack will be given the best possible treatment and work his way back to fitness and that we will have the opportunity to see him at a meeting or two as his recovery evolves.”

Thomas had joined the Pirates on a 4.78 average, and they had just under half a point of the 40-point limit to play with based on their original septet.
