Report

LEICESTER raced to a 56-34 NDL win over Kent – but are waiting on an injury update concerning reserve Vinnie Foord.

Lion Cubs No.1 Dan Thompson scored a 13+2 paid maximum and broke the NDL track record in the last race, and impressive youngster Ashton Boughen was unbeaten until Heat 15 as he scored 11+1.

Foord was withdrawn from the meeting after two early spills, and was set for X-rays on a wrist injury. Nathan Ablitt top-scored for the Royals with nine points.

Cubs boss Dave Howard said: “There were a few unfortunate incidents for our riders, but overall it was a good win and it puts in a good position to pick up the aggregate point when we go to down to Kent later in the season.

“It was a great performance from Ashton to be on a maximum before Heat 15, Dan and Joe (Thompson) were strong as always, and Tom (Spencer) also had a good performance.

“Obviously we’re hoping for positive X-ray results from Vinnie, and we have to keep our fingers crossed for that – we’d very much like to have him in the team for our coming fixtures.”
