Report
POOLE produced a strong second half performance to overcome Berwick 54-36 at Wimborne Road.
Bandits No.1 Rory Schlein was in excellent form as he picked up 14 points from six rides against his old club, but the Pirates again proved a solid all-round outfit on their own track.
Skipper Steve Worrall led the way for the reigning Cab Direct Championship holders with 13 points, including wins in his first four rides, whilst Ben Cook added 10.
Worrall said: “It was another solid night and off the back of last week, so that was good to be scoring what I know I can.
“I was away for a little bit but the last two meetings I have felt really comfortable and I am happy with how the bikes are working, and the track’s fantastic, so everything seems to be working well personally.
“And as a team we are still winning, we are still scoring points so happy days. We need to make this place a bit of a fortress, like we did with Glasgow last week.”
Berwick boss Scott Courtney said: “We started strongly but as expected, Poole hit back hard.
“Rory was outstanding, not just on the track but also in the pits, passing on all his experience to the boys and we never gave up the fight even when points were hard to find.
“We don’t do finger pointing here at Berwick. Everyone knows what they have to work on before we take to the track against Plymouth on Saturday.”
