NEWMAN IN PIRATES RETURN

KYLE Newman is returning to Poole some six years after last being part of the set-up at Wimborne Road.

Newman was a three-time Elite League winner with the Pirates in the mid-2010s, but lost his place in 2017 after suffering from a shoulder injury earlier in that season.

He now re-joins the club on a 4.29 Championship average which will see him start at reserve for the reigning holders.

Promoter Danny Ford said: “When Kyle was released by us in ’17 it was in the knowledge that the door had been left open for a potential return in the future, and that time has now arrived.

“He knows what we expect of him, and I am sure he can deliver on that. His scores towards the end of last season during his time with Redcar were very encouraging.

“We know how good Kyle can be once he gets dialled back in at Wimborne Road, and starting at reserve makes him a real trump card, and I can see him pushing hard to move into our top five.”
