PREVIEW: BERWICK v SCUNTHORPE (Champ)
BERWICK wrap up their Championship campaign by hosting play-off chasing Scunthorpe at Shielfield Park tonight (Saturday).
The Bandits cannot go above their current eighth place but can be spoilers in the top six race, with the Scorpions looking to set the toughest possible target for their rivals ahead of the Plymouth/Redcar fixture on Tuesday.
A maximum-points away win will secure a play-off spot for the visitors.
Berwick are without Chris Harris and Leon Flint, who are racing for Great Britain in the FIM European Pairs Final. Richard Lawson and Kasper Andersen come in to guest, whilst Greg Blair stands in for the injured Nathan Stoneman at reserve. Connor Mountain guests for the Scorpions in place of Tero Aarnio.
Bandits boss Gary Flint said: “This was originally a blank date in the fixture list because we knew there was a very strong possibility of Bomber being involved in the European Pairs.
“The torrential downpour 40 minutes before the scheduled start of the original staging of the meeting in June added to the problems. This was the only date available with all Championship fixtures due to be completed before the end of August.
“When Adam Ellis declared himself unfit Leon was the obvious choice for Great Britain but it did leave us with a major headache, but I think that we have got two excellent guests for the night in Richard and Kasper.”
BERWICK: Richard Lawson, Theo Pijper, Jye Etheridge, Kasper Andersen, Ricky Wells, Greg Blair, Jonas Knudsen.
SCUNTHORPE: TBC, Simon Lambert, James Wright, Jake Allen, Connor Mountain, Adam Roynon, Anders Rowe.
