CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE PAIRS PREVIEW

POOLE skipper Danny King believes he and team-mate Steve Worrall have a great chance of silverware in the Championship League Pairs at Oxford tonight (Friday).

The Pirates are in Group B where they face Plymouth, Berwick, Redcar and the host club, with the top two progressing to the semi-finals.

King said: “Oxford is a track that both Steve and I enjoy racing at, and we have gone quite well this season there.

“I think people can see for themselves that I am feeling confident in my machinery now, and if we go out and ride like we have been then we must be in with a great shout to win the event.”

Meanwhile Leicester will start as favourites in Group A, where they go against Edinburgh, Glasgow, Scunthorpe and Birmingham.

The Lions are represented by Nick Morris and Richie Worrall, who combined for a match-winning Heat 15 in a league match at Cowley earlier this season.

Manager Stewart Dickson said: “This is a meeting we’re definitely looking to win, and that was always the case even before other clubs suffered unfortunate injuries.

“We’re confident Nick and Richie can do the job there, and I’m sure we’ll have lots of support there on the night so we’re very much looking forward to it.”

Tickets for the meeting are available from https://oxfordspeedway.club/tickets/ but must be purchased in advance.
