CUBS THROUGH IN STYLE

LEICESTER secured progression to the NDL KO Cup Final with a 49-41 win at Berwick for an emphatic 44-point aggregate win.

The Lion Cubs led 63-27 heading to Shielfield Park but also won on the night to inflict the Bullets’ first home defeat of the season.

No.1 Dan Thompson scored a 12-point maximum with Connor Coles on 9+2 and youngster Max Perry on 9+1 including a Heat 15 appearance. Kyle Bickley scored 10 for the hosts.

Cubs boss Dave Howard said: “The first thing was to score the 28 points we needed to get to the Final, but we were ahead from Heat 1 and ahead all through the meeting, and it’s great to keep the away momentum going.

“After the very good performance at Oxford on Wednesday it’s great to get another away win, and to confirm our place in the Final against Mildenhall.”
