TOUGH DAY AT PARDUBICE

GREAT Britian’s youngsters experienced a tough day with a seventh-place finish in the second round of the FIM European 250cc Team Pairs Cup.

GB did, however, add 11 points their total at Pardubice and they therefore head into the final round next month with just two points separating themselves, Sweden and the Czech Republic in the race for the bronze medal.

GB Youth boss Neil Vatcher said: “The Pardubice track has traditionally been known to be hard for British riders to find the right set-up as it is a big flat track, so you need speed – but where it is always slick, so too much power and then the bike doesn’t go forward.

“Having said that, Luke Harrison and Max James at just 15 years old, and William Cairns only just turned 13, did themselves and their team proud with their efforts for their first visit to the Czech venue, and the 11-point score doesn’t warrant the effort they all put in.

“Denmark and Poland were again the top two nations in this round with this time Denmark coming out on top, but due to the good score GB had in the first round last Thursday then we are still in the mix for a medal.”
