PREVIEW: LEICESTER v BERWICK (NDL KOC)

LEICESTER now stage the first leg of their NDL KO Cup semi-final against Berwick at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena today (Sunday).

Saturday’s scheduled fixture at Shielfield Park was called off due to the weather, and will be re-arranged later in the season.

The Lion Cubs have to do without Connor Coles, who is on Championship duty, and they will operate rider replacement in the second heat-leader position.

Manager Dave Howard said: “We go into this tough Cup semi-final in a positive frame of mind.

“We approached a handful of potential guests for Connor, but all had other racing and personal commitments, so we will operate rider replacement and we’ll be doing all we can to build a lead.”

Bullets coach Kevin Little said: “I have no intention of tempting fate, not least because getting past Leicester in the semi will be tough enough. Let alone home and away against Mildenhall.

“What I will say is that in the Bullets we have a group of big characters all motivated by progressing in the sport and getting the job done on the track.”

LEICESTER: Dan Thompson, Mickie Simpson, Connor Coles R/R, Tom Spencer, Joe Thompson, Vinnie Foord, Max Perry, Sam Woods (no.8).
BERWICK: Kyle Bickley, Mason Watson, Ace Pijper, Greg Blair, Luke Crang, Kieran Douglas, Ben Rathbone.
