PREVIEW: REDCAR v DIAMONDS SELECT (Ch)

REDCAR stage an emotional home fixture at the Ecco Arena tonight (Friday) as they take on a Diamonds Select in a special challenge match.

The Bears were due to meet Newcastle in the Championship prior to the withdrawal of the Brough Park side earlier this week.

But the Redcar promotion have acted to put on a meeting featuring the bulk of the riders who have represented Newcastle this season, and to give fans of their local rivals the opportunity to show their support.

Bears boss Jade Mudgway said: “It is just about putting on a show for the fans and having a good meeting.

“It is also a chance to say thank you to the Diamonds fans, officials and riders for the rivalry we have had over the years.

“The Diamonds riders will definitely want to put themselves out there for a team place. They have some good riders in their side, but things just haven’t worked out for whatever reason.”
