PREVIEW: EDINBURGH v NEWCASTLE (Champ)

EDINBURGH look to consolidate their place in the Championship top six when they host Newcastle at Armadale tonight (Friday).

The Monarchs moved into the play-off places by winning at Birmingham on Wednesday, leaving them three points clear of the chasing pack.

Paco Castagna is missing for the hosts due to a GP qualifier, with Theo Pijper and Kyle Bickley coming in as guests as Lasse Fredriksen and James Sarjeant are still on the sidelines.

Newcastle have Ricky Wells and Ashley Morris in as guests with three of their top five ruled out, and have also re-declared their side with Jack Smith replacing George Congreve.

Edinburgh star Josh Pickering said: “They have nothing to lose in a sense, they just want to try and win and the riders earn as much as possible, so we need to be at the top of our game.

“It’s the same as if we were riding a Glasgow, Poole or Leicester, we need to have the same attitude we would against anyone and just do our jobs and get a good result.”
