PREVIEW: REDCAR v OXFORD (Champ)
OXFORD co-boss Peter Schroeck wants Wednesday’s frustration to be channelled in a positive manner when the Cheetahs travel to Redcar tonight (Friday).
The Cowley side were 17-7 up at home to Newcastle before rain forced an early abandonment to the meeting.
They are currently three points adrift of the top six, with the Bears in fifth place heading into the clash at the Ecco Arena.
Schroeck said: “We can’t beat ourselves up about it – we’ve got to channel our focus on tonight’s meeting and travel north knowing we’re capable of securing another away win.
“Our away form is what can be the difference between making the play-offs and missing out, so it’s important we deliver a professional performance.
“We made a good start when we last visited Redcar. But we just tailed off at the end and the Bears’ form in the final races really hurt us.
“They outscored us at reserve too which is an area we can improve as Dillon (Ruml) has a little more track knowledge and Josh Macdonald is back in the squad.”
Redcar boss Jade Mudgway said: “I believe we have the side to go all the way but first things first, we need to get enough points to make the play-offs.
“Obviously, it’s good that we have beaten them already at home this season and that may give us that little bit of edge you are looking for on Friday. On the other hand, they should have their set-ups ready from the off.”
