LIONS WIN ON THE ROAD

LEICESTER moved four points clear at the top of the Championship table with an emphatic 50-39 win at Edinburgh on Friday.

The Lions reached the halfway stage of their regular league programme and secured their first away win of the season, led by Nick Morris (14) who dropped just one point from five rides, whilst former Monarchs rider Richie Worrall scored 11.

It was a second home defeat for the Armadale side, for whom Sam Masters scored 14 from six rides.

Lions boss Stewart Dickson said: “I’m very, very pleased, and I feel that result gets us up and running. I know we’re 100 per cent at home, but this was away from home, and it’s fair to say that getting the four points was beyond expectations.

“It was a good team effort, we were very good out of the starts which does make things a bit easier, but we rode well and we thoroughly deserved it.”

Masters said: “Two home defeats and two away is not really what we want, is it? It’s tough, without sounding disrespectful we just have a couple of stragglers.

“Myself, Kye (Thomson) and Josh (Pickering) can’t really do it all. It’s the same problem as our last meeting here – we just weren’t getting off the start.”
