PIRATES’ RESTRICTIONS RELIEF

POOLE promoter Danny Ford has stressed the significance of this week’s Government announcement that Step 4 of lockdown easing is set to go ahead on July 19.

The Pirates are one of several clubs who have encountered difficulties with operating under restrictions, with the result that they have staged just two meetings at Wimborne Road this season.

Ford said: “I think the whole nation was given a boost on Monday evening when the Prime Minister laid out the plans for the move to Step 4, which hopefully will happen on July 19.

“Provided all goes to plan, it will be particularly pleasing to host a speedway meeting without the constraints that we have had to contend with, for all the right reasons, at our first two matches.

“As things stand, we will need to wait to see what catering facilities will be available at the stadium and we hope to be able to update our patrons on that aspect shortly, but with Plymouth due in town on July 21 for the second leg of the KO Cup there is a lot to look forward to.”
