PREVIEW: BRITISH YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP, PLYMOUTH
THE sixth and final round of the 2021 British Youth Championship takes place at Plymouth tonight (Saturday, 7pm).
British Champions Ben Trigger (500cc) and Luke Harrison (250cc) will both be in attendance and both riders will be aiming to make it a clean sweep of this year’s Championship having won all five previous rounds.
Although the overall winners have been decided, there is still plenty to race for in the 250cc series with four riders still in with a chance of a podium finish.
Max James is currently on 70 points, Sonny Springer 63, Ace Pijper 62 and Jody Scott 60.
As well as podium places for the 250cc, the 125cc class is still wide open with Cooper Rushen needing to win tonight’s round to force a run-off with current leader Stene Pijper, whilst Jamie Etherington and Oliver Bovingdon are in with a shout of claiming a bronze medal.
Young Lions boss Neil Vatcher said: “Again this has been a fantastic series and we have been very fortunate to have been to five great venues already in Scunthorpe, Redcar, Belle Vue, Edinburgh and Leicester – and of course we are really looking forward to the round at Plymouth this evening.”
The Young Lions would like to thank the Plymouth promotion, the Members of the BSP Ltd and their series sponsors for their continued support in 2021: Nuneaton Speedway Supporters’ Club, Wessex Marine, Foxbury Motors, Gordon Pairman, Friends of Speedway, Rentruck of Rochdale, ATPI Travel, KanDysoft Solutions, Creative Doc Productions, and the Association of Referees.
